Pat Toomey: Supports Syrian People Against a Murderous Dictator

American Senator Pat Toomey

Versus   This is the face of a dictator, a serial, mass murderer who tortures and kills his own people, Bashar al-Assad, not a friend of freedom. Listen to video of Syrian Revolutionary Song (Barry Rubin 11 July 2011) . Note the line “Mahar[Bashar’s brother] You’re the agent of the US” that is, the US, the Obama Administration, is supporting the repressive dictator against the people of Syria demonstrating for freedom.  We support freedom, Americans, do we not? Does the Administration represent American interests and values in the Middle East? I think not

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) today commended the U.S. ambassador to Syria, Robert Ford, for visiting the Syrian city of Hama to show solidarity with Syrian demonstrators:

“For months, hundreds of thousands of Syrian citizens have protested President Bashar al-Assad’s tyrannical and murderous regime,” Sen. Toomey said. “They have taken to the streets and risked their lives to demand freedom even while the Assad regime has responded with violence. Ambassador Ford’s visit to Hama and recent denunciations of Assad by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are an important and welcome policy change. As citizens around the world fight for their most basic human rights, we should use our diplomatic power to support and encourage their quest.”
