Rick Santorum: Not Our Guy – Club for Growth White Paper

Here is Club for Growth White Paper analyzing Rick Santorum’s record.

The Club for Growth notes that he supported No Child Left Behind in 2001, which greatly expanded the federal government’s role in education; the massive new Medicare drug entitlement in 2003  that now costs taxpayers over $60 billion a year and has almost $16 trillion in unfunded liabilities; and that he voted for the 2005 highway bill that included thousands of wasteful earmarks.

Not the Guy

Establishment Careerist with Democrats Jack Murtha and Arlen Specter and Big Government GW Bush.

Rick Santorum is an Establishment Insider Big Government Republican, a big spender and union financed. I think Rick Santorum’s anti-growth anti-Free Trade votes are a result of his close ties to Philadelphia Unions, like John Dougherty’s IBEW 98 which supported him openly.

Rick Santorum is also an “Earmarker” as shown by his support of GW Bush’s Highway bill and, solely, for political reasons, Rick Santorum voted for milk subsidies for Pennsylvania dairy businesses.

Rick Santorum voted for a new Big Government,  multi-trillion dollar entitlement, Medicare Part D Prescription Drug, which is a precursor to Obamacare takeover of American health system.

Rick Santorum supports Ethanol subsidies and biofuel mandates.

Rich Santorum is not a fiscal conservative. Rick Santorum is good on understanding threat of Islamism.

Rick is a very slick talker  and stunningly arrogant – I have met him – and he can’t win in Penna. in 2006, Rick Santorum received 797,000 fewer votes and fewer votes in every County than he received in 2000. Anyone who uses the less than effective and well paid BrabenderCox as a consultant is not going to do well.

Many will recall that then Big Government Senator Rick Santorum, choosing power over stated principle, hypocritically, relentlessly, backed Union Financed Big Government Democrat Senator Arlen Specter against Fiscal Common Sense Pat Toomey. And I think we all know the country would have been better off with Senator Pat Toomey’s ahead of the curve understanding of the devastating economic effects of out of control Big Government Debt and Deficits.

Here are all the Club for Growth White papers to date on Republican contenders.
